The state's highest court on Wednesday upheld a 1998 law defining marriage as the union of one man and one woman. It was a 5-4 decision -- a victory for supporters of traditional marriage and a blow to advocates of homosexuality, who asked the court to throw out Washington's Defense of Marriage Act.
