In America we are promised life, liberty and the PURSUIT of happiness. It does not mean you will ever be happy, but you are free to chase after it.
I have come to discover there is no perfect life. Nobody is happy all the time. Bad things happen and sometimes we make them happen. Life is not really about the mistakes you avoid, its how you handle the ones you fall face first into.
Its like having an umbrella in the closet. It doesn't rain all the time but you know someday it will and you have to be ready. I refuse to let life keep me down.
My advice is don't even try for the perfect life. Just shoot for one where you can sleep at night and look yourself in the mirror in the morning. What happens in between, well that's the pursuit of happiness.
