Lackawanna Terrorist Surrenders

Former Lackawanna resident Jaber A. ELBANEH, charged with providing material support to a terrorist organization and conspiring to provide material support to al Qaeda, reportedly turned himself in to authorities in his native Yemen. ELBANEH was added as a fugitive to the FBI Most Wanted Terrorists list in May 2003. A former cab driver and salesman at his uncle's car lot in he greater Buffalo, NY area, Elbaneh was associated with the "Lackawanna Six," or the six men who were convicted of providing material support to al-Qaeda.

Captured in Yemen, ELBANEH was housed at a Yemeni jail until he and 22 other Islamic terrorists escaped on February 3, 2006. The FBI has yet to confirm that ELBANEH is in custody.
