DANIEL HENNINGER DISCUSSES “DOGMA WITHOUT GOD”

Henninger argues in today’s Wall Street Journal that the current chorus of militant atheists (e.g. Richard Dawkins, Sam Harris, Steven Pinker, Daniel Dennett, et.al.) only serves to undermine civic virtue in America. He concludes: “Atheists and the unchurched undervalue the extent to which they are getting a free ride on the social strength that religious-based virtue provides. It’s one thing to write in a book that we don’t need them. But I’d rather not run the real-world experiment of navigating without them” (Wall Street Journal). In other religion commentary, Gerard Baker catalogues many of the ways that 2006 was good for religious conflict and atheism and Albert Mohler discusses who the Son of God is at the Newsweek/Washington Post “On Faith” blog.
