New Hampshire Repeals Parental Right To Know Law

(CNSNews.com): In 2003 New Hampshire passed a parental notification law requiring a parent to be told 48 hours prior to their daughter's planned abortion. Planned Parenthood filed a lawsuit questioning the law's constitutionality, and it never took effect.

In January 2006, the Supreme Court ruled that the New Hampshire law was unconstitutional, because it did not include exceptions to protect the health of a pregnant minor. Signing the repeal last week, Gov. John Lynch said the court had ruled that the law "fails to protect the health and safety of all women." Read more…
