PA State Budget Impasse Drags On

Casinos would shut down that day, as well as state parks, museums and driver's license bureaus, he said. Read more…

Although the state finished the year with a $600 million surplus, there are still proposals for a half dozen increased fees and taxes on the table dividing the legislature and governor. At least it is encouraging to see some legislators, who had no problem voting for a double-digit personal tax increase a few years ago, are now suddenly finding a spine. I think the public would be interested in knowing that Essential Personnel in Critical Positions in some departments that are deemed essential to the HEALTH and welfare of PA citizens are being "bumped" and replaced by employees from a different Bureau, who have not received the same or adequate training, and are unqualified to fill those "essential, critical" positions. The potential for some essential services, such as various medical clinics, to be cancelled until trained personnel are restored to the positions, is very real, as is the potential that confidential medical information is at risk.

My quarterly tax payments go on furlough monday morning. No services...no paid taxes!

Looks like rice and water for dinner for you Mr Rendell. perhaps you can get a loan from YOUR casinos! If not, just dip into the 600 million surplus.

Wait a minute, they're stopping the salaries of the wrong people! Personally I think all those responsible for this in the first place should have their salaries stopped. No pay until you're jobs are done and done on time by the way! How many people are paying because feet were drug! There is absolutely no excuse when so much is on the line...I'm so glad I don't work for the state!

We have state troopers die in duty everyday. We have corrections officers going to work with the risk they'll never come home. We have people who are stuck in the the middle because the politicians have their priorities messed up. These people aren't going to get paid? That's ridiculous!
