US SEES COOLEST WINTER SINCE 2001

Temperatures Rising over SBC's Focus on Climate Change
Despite growing research to the contrary, a handful of leaders in the Southern Baptist Convention (SBC) have formally jumped on the global warming bandwagon, calling it an urgent issue for its 16.3 million members. The proclamation, signed by SBC President Frank Page, came as a shock to the members of America's largest Protestant group, which has long been skeptical of such claims. This global warming pronouncement is a definite departure from official statements from the SBC membership, which passed a resolution just last year questioning the evidence of global warming. This past week in New York City, a group of 100 leading scientists on the issue released a new report stating that there is no "convincing evidence" of a man-made global warming crisis. Instead, they demonstrated through data that the world has been experiencing a noticeable cooling pattern over the last 10 years. Meanwhile, the signatories of the SBC declaration, none of whom are scientists, insist that the threat to the environment "requires government action to assure the health and well-being of all people." While environmental conservation and less dependence on foreign energy sources are vital concerns to all people of faith, the global warming agenda threatens to be a wedge issue that divides and distracts Evangelicals. Unfortunately, these SBC leaders are lending credibility to a movement that sorely lacks it. Like the Evangelical left, these SBC leaders are relying too heavily on government intervention, which usually creates a bigger mess than it solves. Put On Your Global Warming Sweater
I'm really, really hoping Al Gore and his friends stumble upon this post.
Part of science is searching for proof to validate a theory. Prior to that proof discovery, one looks for clues and evidence as guideposts to point them in the right direction. Global warming is in the theory stage, even though many have just jumped ahead to considering it fact.
When you base things on emotional response and how you think they are, it's easy to get lost. Take for instance evidence for a cooling planet.
The most recent data from the past year shows China had its coldest winter in 100 years. Baghdad saw its first snow in all recorded history. North America had the most snow cover in 50 years, with places like Wisconsin the highest since record-keeping began. Record levels of Antarctic sea ice, record cold in Minnesota, Texas, Florida, Mexico, Australia, Iran, Greece, South Africa, Greenland, Argentina, Chile -- the list goes on and on.
That's good news right? Not if you have invested billions of dollars in the global warming theory.
While we can't say one 12 month period defines our global condition, we also can not ignore that recent evidence and hard scientific fact. All four major global temperature tracking outlets (Hadley, NASA's GISS, UAH, RSS) have released updated data. All show that over the past year, global temperatures have dropped precipitously. A compiled list of all the sources can be seen here.
The total amount of cooling is in a range large enough to wipe out nearly all the warming recorded over the past 100 years. All in one year's time! For all four sources, it's the single fastest temperature change ever recorded, either up or down. Should we now sound the global COOLING alarm?
So why the sudden change? Scientists link the cooling to reduced solar activity which they claim is a much larger driver of climate change than man-made greenhouse gases. While the data doesn't itself disprove that carbon dioxide is acting to warm the planet, it does demonstrate clearly that more powerful factors are now cooling it.
Could it be that God is that more "powerful factor" in control here? Is it possible that the Creator of the universe actually considered man might have an environmental impact on the planet by simply living here. Has anyone considered God may have factored green house gases into his divine plan?
Or could it be an over reaction to global warming fears has plunged us into the deep freeze?
Let' s hope it not the later. The mean temperature of the planet is about 54 degrees. Humans, and crops and animals prefer a temperature closer to 70. It looks like the mercury has much more room to move up then down and still keep us alive.
There is much more then temperature at stake here. If one believes that man can destroy the entire planet, then he must also believe that man can save the world. To believe the after of the globe rest in our hands assigns a greater power to man over God. It's possible the global warming crowd is more interested in power than temperatures. That's a chilly thought.

I have to laugh. Story notes “the mean planetary temperature hasn't increased significantly for nearly nine years. Antarctica is getting colder. Neither the intensity nor the frequency of hurricanes has increased. The 2007 season was the third-quietest since 1966. In 2006 not a single hurricane made landfall in the U.S. South America this year experienced one of its coldest winters in decades. In Buenos Aires, snow fell for the first time since the year 1918. Dozens of homeless people died from exposure. In Peru, 200 people died from the cold and thousands more became infected with respiratory diseases. Crops failed, livestock perished, and the Peruvian government declared a state of emergency. Unexpected bitter cold swept the entire Southern Hemisphere in 2007. Johannesburg, South Africa, had the first significant snowfall in 26 years. Australia experienced the coldest June ever. In northeastern Australia, the city of Townsville underwent the longest period of continuously cold weather since 1941. In New Zealand, the weather turned so cold that vineyards were endangered.”

Skeptical Scientists Say "Do Nothing" on Global Warming

An international team of scientists skeptical of man-made climate fears promoted by the UN and former Vice President Al Gore, descended on Bali this week to urge the world to "have the courage to do nothing" in response to UN demands.
Lord Christopher Monckton, a UK climate researcher, had a blunt message for UN climate conference participants on Monday.
"Climate change is a non problem. The right answer to a non problem is to have the courage to do nothing," Monckton told participants.
"This is the most lavish conference I have ever been to, but I am only a scientist and I actually only go to the science conferences," Evans said, noting the luxury of the tropical resort. (Note: An analysis by Bloomberg News on December 6 found: "Government officials and activists flying to Bali, Indonesia, for the United Nations meeting on climate change will cause as much pollution as 20,000 cars in a year." - LINK)
"We now have quite a lot of evidence that carbon emissions definitely don't cause global warming. We have the missing [human] signature [in the atmosphere], we have the IPCC models being wrong and we have the lack of a temperature going up the last 5 years," Evans said in an interview with the Inhofe EPW Press Blog. Evans authored a November 28 2007 paper "Carbon Emissions Don't Cause Global Warming." (LINK)

The Vatican plans to become the first entirely carbon neutral sovereign state. The Vatican declared that itwill create a new Vatican Climate Forest in Europe that will initially offset all of the Vatican City State's CO2 emissions for this year.
"As the Holy Father, Pope Benedict XVI, had recently stated, the international community needs to respect and encourage a 'Green Culture,' characterized by ethical values. The Book of Genesis tells us of a beginning in which God placed man as guardian over the earth to make it fruitful. When man forgets that he is a faithful servant of this earth, it becomes a desert that threatens the survival of all creation."
The new Vatican Climate Forest will be created in Hungary's Bükk National Park under the auspices of the KlimaFa Climate Parks program. Its dimensions will be determined by the Vatican's 2007 energy usage and the success of its current emission reduction efforts. KlimaFa has received EU JI Track 1 approval to plant thousands of hectares of new native species, mixed growth forests under the permanent protection of European national park systems. Its initial projects are being conducted in collaboration with Hungary's government, Academy of Sciences and National Parks Directorate.

Unstoppable Global Warming documents the reality of a moderate, natural, 1500-year climate cycle on the earth. The Chilling Stars explains the why and how.

The U.N. environment agency pressured Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon on to call an emergency climate summit amid dire reports about the risks from global warming.
