DICAPRIO CRITICIZED FOR WASTE IN GLOBAL WARMING CAMPAIGN

Irony many of those on the left face. From the story: The package contains a one-page letter from DiCaprio; two pages from Frances Beinecke, president of the NRDC; a flyer for a free Save the Polar Bear! bag; a donation form and petition to have the animals listed as an endangered species; and a return envelope. The star has been criticised for the waste of paper and the hypocrisy of the situation - because he helped to spearhead the national Do Not Mail Registry campaign to ban junk mail earlier this year

PSYCHIATRISTS SEE GLOBAL WARMING DELUSION

As victims become overwhelmed with fear. (Herald Sun) From a commentary on Weather Channel founder John Coleman: “There is no significant man-made global warming. There has not been any in the past, there is none now and there is no reason to fear any in the future." Coleman went on to say that the climate of earth is changing. It always has changed. But mankind's activities have not overwhelmed or significantly modified the natural forces." (Townhall)

I told you these people are crazy....

SHASTA GLACIERS GETTING BIGGER

The reason? According to the scientist quoted in the story: Global warming. Talk about having yor cake and eating it to. I don't have a PHD in science but any gradeschool kid can tell you heat does not create ice.

CLIMATE CHANGE LEGISLATION GASPING FOR AIR

From the story: The Lieberman-Warner bill sets a cap on greenhouse gas emissions that would reduce them by 70% by 2050. Companies would need permits to emit pollutants that cause global warming. The government would allocate some permits to utilities and industrial companies, and auction others to generate revenues. The question of how to distribute permits and what to do with the money divides even supporters of greenhouse gas regulation. Story notes the legislation “will raise the prices of electricity and gasoline. In fact, a key purpose of the bill is to put a price on the emissions of greenhouse gases, as a way to speed the transition to a clean-energy economy and slow down global warming.”

'Carbon Belch Day'

Conservative grassroots group Grassfire.org wants people to waste as much energy as possible on June 12 by "hosting a barbecue, going for a drive, watching television, leaving a few lights on, or even smoking a few cigars."

I mad. I just can't believe it. Why didn't I think of this???
The point: the group wants to "help Americans break free from the 'carbon footprint guilt' being imposed by Climate Alarmists."

Grassfire.org president Steve Elliott, in a statement, said: "It's time for Americans to purge ourselves of the false guilt that Al Gore and the Climate Alarmists have placed on us".

Grassfire.org said it chose June 12 as the day it wants Americans to rev up their SUVs because it coincides with expected debate in Congress over a $1.2 billion carbon tax rebate program. "Carbon Belch Day will have at least as much impact on the so-called 'planetary emergency' of man-made global warming as the goofy save the earth mandates telling us to turn our lights off for an hour," said Elliott.

He's right. So hug a tree if you want to. I'm going to belch!

31,000 Scientists Debunk Global Warming

My thanks to Brian for this artilce.

Environmental extremists routinely assert a “scientific consensus” that global warming is occurring, and that human activity somehow causes it. This week, however, over 31,000 scientists spoke up and reduced that myth to a smoldering rubble.

The environmentalists’ alleged “scientific consensus” is much like the curtain in The Wizard of Oz, behind which the supposedly infallible wizard dictated to his minions. Beyond that curtain, however, the wizard was nothing more than an ordinary little man perpetrating a fraud upon those who worshipped his doctrine. And once Toto removed that curtain, the fraud was exposed for all to see.

That shroud, however, was further torn this week by a 31,000-strong petition organized by the Oregon Institute of Science and Medicine (OISM). That petition reads:

We urge the United States government to reject the global warming agreement
that was written in Kyoto, Japan in December 1997, and any other similar
proposals. The proposed limits on greenhouse gases would harm the environment,
hinder the advance of science and technology, and damage the health and welfare
of mankind.

There is no convincing scientific evidence that human release of carbon
dioxide, methane, or other greenhouse gases is causing, or will in the
foreseeable future cause, catastrophic heating of the Earth’s atmosphere and
disruption of the Earth’s climate. Moreover, there is substantial evidence that
increases in atmospheric carbon dioxide produce many beneficial effects upon the
natural plant and animal environments of the Earth.

THE RELIGION OF ENVIRONMENTALISM

A great observation from Jonah Goldberg: I heard Gore on NPR the other day. He was asked what he made of evangelical pastor Joseph Hagee's absurd comment that Hurricane Katrina was God's wrath for New Orleans' sexual depravity. Naturally, Gore chuckled at such backwardness. But then the Nobel laureate went on to blame Katrina on man's energy sinfulness. It struck me that the two men were not so different. If only canoodling residents of the Big Easy had adhered to "The Greenpeace Guide to Environmentally Friendly Sex." (LA Times)

ACTIVISTS GROUNDED

Now it's unethical to fly. So much for that frequent flyer card....

Here's the pitch:
The planet should not have to suffer the consequences of a fast-growing air-travel industry. Hence, the argument goes, an ethical consumer should think twice before buying plane tickets. Well you can buy the ticket if it's printed on recycled paper. Just don't use it.

Anglican Bishop John Chartres said flying abroad to vacation is a "symptom of sin" because it ignores "an overriding imperative to walk more lightly upon the earth." Huh? I'm flying above the earth. It's doesn't get any lighter.

There is an already suffering industry here. We are talking people's jobs. These folks would just toss that all aside. I guess UN members would have to take a sail boat to meetings. It's going to be a real burden for the many environmental activists (rock stars and Al Gore) who fly in private jets from place to place to raise fears of global warming.

THE REAL COST OF TACKLING CO2 EMISSIONS

Stephen Hayward, in today’s WSJ: “You can forget refrigerators, microwaves, clothes dryers and flat screen TVs. Even a house tricked out with all the latest high-efficiency EnergyStar appliances and compact fluorescent lights won't come close. The same daunting energy math applies to the industrial, commercial and transportation sectors as well. The clear implication is that we shall have to replace virtually the entire fossil fuel electricity infrastructure over the next four decades with CO2-free sources – a multitrillion dollar proposition, if it can be done at all.”

SCIENTIST: FEAR GLOBAL COOLING

Finally someone has joined my cause! I'm recruiting celebrities to increase awarness about the postive effects of greenhouse gases. First on board is astronaut and geophysicist Phil Chapman who said the world cooled very quickly between January last year and January this year, and noted "This is the fastest temperature change in the instrumental record.” He concluded “If the temperature does not soon recover, we will have to conclude that global warming is over." Then what will Al Gore do? (FOX News)
