CNN RESPONDS IN BATTLE WITH MICHAEL MOORE

After his critical open letter where Moore brags “I'm about to become your worst nightmare.” (CNN) Sicko finished number 9 in its fourth week. (BoxOfficeMojo)

CNN found numerous factual errors in Michael Moore’s Sicko and pointed them out, see here

While the CNN vs Moore fight is entertaining, the larger point was missed. Rather than quibbling with Mr. Moore's omission of Cuba's position relative to the U.S. on a World Health Organization (WHO) international health care system ranking report, CNN should have called into question the use of that biased report itself. The WHO report doesn't just rank health care systems according to how well they cure you when you're sick. Indeed, 25% of the WHO report's scoring is based on the "fairness" of a country's health care financing as measured by how redistributionist - socialist - it is. The result is an absurd report that ranks the medical system of Morocco as superior to that the U.S. But it's good enough for Michael Moore!

Gun-Control Bill Passes Legislature

From the story: The (Pennsylvania) state legislature last night passed a gun-control bill advocated by Philadelphia lawmakers, a notable feat in a state so strong on the right to bear arms and so hostile to the city's efforts to regulate them.

The Senate passed the legislation, 50-0, following overwhelming passage in the House last week.
One part of the bill would compel police departments to trace all illegal firearms confiscated from those under the age of 21 and report the guns to a state-police-run registry. The other would expand the definition of firearm under state law to include long-guns such as rifles and shotguns, providing more uniform application of state law. Read more…

PALifeVote.Org Calls “Pre-K Counts” Funding “Pro-Abortion”

With the PA State Budget earmarking $75 million to start a pre-kindergarten grant program, PALifeVote.org has called the program “Pro-Abortion Accommodation”. From the release:

“…the budget agreement includes $75 million for the NEA/PSEA "Pre-K Counts" initiative to begin a universal, taxpayer funded, regulated and unionized pre-school program for the state's three and four year olds. While the pilot program is for $75 million today, it will be billions in years to come. (Watch for higher property taxes to return.)

A major motivation for the NEA/PSEA initiative is because the union's Pro-Abortion activism has so reduced the number of school-aged children that there is a desperation to "salvage the jobs of teachers" and union dues by enrolling the SURVIVING children - earlier.”

Watch for government funded pre-school to be mandatory soon.

Radio Waves

WLSW (Connellsville) and WQTW (Latrobe) owner Stan Wall has been hospitalized for the last few days. We wish him the best of health and hope for a speedy recovery.
WORD FM Kennywood Day is Aug. 10th. John & Stephanie will be doing the show live form the park.

Two years after a disastrous decision to convert its Ney York's 101.1 frequency to the variety hits "Jack FM" format, CBS Radio is restoring oldies to WCBS-FM. The afternoon man will be none other than former WCBS-FM afternoon jock Bob Shannon, better remembered in Pittsburgh by his real name, Don Bombard. In the late '70s and early '80s, Bombard hosted one of the city's highest-rated radio shows, "The Sunday Night Oldies Party" on then-"13Q" WKTQ (1320).
