After listening to portions of Senator John McCain’s address to the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC), it seems that a new upgrade is available to conservatives who are disillusioned by McCain’s stands on taxes, immigration, campaign finance and a host of other issues.
This upgrade, McCain Version 2.0, attempts to correct some of the bugs of initial McCain release 1.0. McCain 1.0 voted twice against the Bush tax cuts. McCain 2.0 now promises to preserve these same tax cuts. McCain 1.0 voted to give amnesty to 12 – 20 million illegal immigrants with out addressing boarder security. McCain 2.0 promises to fix the boarder security first, and with no amnesty provision.
However, while McCain 2.0 claims more conservative values, this upgrade still fails to address the well documented shortcomings of McCain 1.0. The freedom of speech limits placed on grass roots organizations on McCain 1.0 is still present on McCain 2.0. It also appears that McCain 2.0 is still willing to limit economic activity in order to support the highly questionable man-made global warming theory.
Should conservatives upgrade to McCain Version 2.0? My suggestion is to keep the pressure on the manufacturer. Perhaps McCain 2.0 will issue additional service packs to address these still-present deficiencies.
