Banning History

California's biggest export these days seems to be insanity. Here is the latest offering....There is now a law suit to determine whether it's unconstitutional to read the Declaration of Independence in a public school. No, I'm not making this up. The Cupertino Union School District prohibited a teacher from providing handouts to students about American history because the historical documents contain some references to God and religion. So to please those who claim there is no God and look to themsleves to define right and worng, teachers are to ban statments by George Washington and documents like the Declaration of Independence. Patricia Vidmar, principal of the Stevens Creek School where all this is taking place, has taken it upon herslef to declare excerpts from the Declaration of Independence, the diaries of George Washington and John Adams, the writings of William Penn, and various state constitutions as unfit to be taught in the classroom. California's Education Code allows "references to religion or references to or the use of religious literature … when such references or uses do not constitute instruction in religious principles … and when such references or uses are incidental to or illustrative of matters properly included in the course of study." Still, the case of Stephen J. Williams v. Cupertino Union School District, et al., was filed in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California, Oakland Division. I'll let you know what happens.

I could do a whole show on this! First we need to know where morals come from. You said morals are a product of religion. All laws are moral standards we adopt as a society. So in a sense, Christainity is the basis for all our laws. You say legislators have no business telling other people that one set of morals is right and another wrong. If that is the case then we must abandon our legal system. We are told everyday what is right and wrong. Why is it wrong to steal, or kill or even do 100 mph on the way home from work? Because we are told it's wrong. Based on the Koran, a man can beat his wife. Try it here and you could end up in jail. Is that religious persecution? Even if you say yes, it is still our moral standard no matter what your faith.
I'll say this again, people in America are free to practice whatever religion they choose and the government can work with those religions our leaders choose, to promote the common good. It's not establishing a national religion, it is simply representing the majority. Those that disagree, do have not right to revise American history or block the faith of others in order to please themsleves.
Now understand this, God did not, does not, and never will bargin. You are misunderstanding scripture. God already knows the outcome of everything. He knew Niniva would repent and Sodom & Gomorrah would not. The passage is to show to foolishness of man in thinking we know better then God. In fact, that's at the core of most of these battles.
I never said we should no combine cultures but a Christian need to speak agianst what is not of God and flee from it. Your argument about gay marriage has some major flaws. First it is already much more thenm two men getting married. It the forced acceptance, the teaching of homosexuality in schools, the takeover of our courts to push and agenda, the attack of Christians as bigots and the propaganda and recrutment of our children. We should never comabt the negative ascpects of gay marraige by condoning it. That's like handing out clean needles to addicts. It does not address the real issue.
You must be careful not to confuse the Old Testament with the new. The old law changed with Jesus becuse he paid the price and they killed him for saying what I'm telling you. We can change the laws of man all we want but the laws of God will not change.

I think all major laws do fall in line and are based on morals found in the bible. If you are into law, it is interesting to compare laws to what it says in the bible. You can find a reference for almost everything from theft, to tax evasion. I think you would be surprised. Where do we get that thing s are 'bad in itself'? People justify murder, theft and even rape in their own minds everyday.
I never said oppress the minority but I would not sacrifce the majority. We all have equal right and that protects the minoroty.
As for the war, I beleive all authority comes form God. Anyone in the Whitehouse is put there by God. Therefore it is God's will that we be at war right now. As soon as I learned women and children were found in mass graves I knew we were to be there. remember Jesus said Matthew 10:34 "Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword."

You wanted some scripture warning about "eing too friendly with one another" well here you go... 1 Thessalonians 5:3 "While people are saying, "Peace and safety," destruction will come on them suddenly, as labor pains on a pregnant woman, and they will not escape."
NOW GET THIS ABOUT THE UN: In the book of Revelation, chapter 13, prophecy foretells the creation of the one-world government that we presently see emerging under the guise of the International Community. It specifically prophesies that Germany, Great Britain, Russia and the ten-horned union will come together to dominate the world and to eventually be dominated by the coming Antichrist. Prophecy is clear that the United Nations will invade Israel at the time of the Battle of Armageddon. It is absolutely imperative that the United States not participate in this invasion! Zechariah 14 tells us that Almighty God will personally appear to fight for the overmatched nation of Israel at that time.
All of the nations that participate in the action against Israel will be smitten with a special plague according to Zechariah 14:12, "And this shall be the plague wherewith the LORD will smite all the people that have fought against Jerusalem; Their flesh shall consume away while they stand upon their feet, and their eyes shall consume away in their holes, and their tongue shall consume away in their month."
This is a prophecy describing the effects of nuclear radiation. Apparently nuclear weapons will be used against the forces of the International Community at Armageddon.
To wrap this up, liquor is illegal in high school if you are under 21 so I can't buy that arguement. All things (good and bad) come from God. Even our laws today. You said "I wouldn't want to encourage either drug addiction or sex, but if someone is going to do it anyway I want them to be safe." That's the problem we have today! We send all this mixed messages to youth and then wonder why they are messed up. It's insane! We need to say DON'T DO IT. If you do there are dire consequences. Instead we try (with good intentions) to remove the danger and therefor make it more inviting. Everyone is worth saving but we must not enable the sinner while trying to save them.
