U.S. bishops’ National Review Board needs to clean house – immediately!
“I dare say it is no accident that the U.S. bishops’ National Review Board has a new appointee who happens to be pro-abortion,” said Judie Brown, president of American Life League. “Past experience with this board leads me to believe that nobody is checking backgrounds and references for this committee.”
Newly appointed review board member Pamela Hayes recently told a Catholic reporter that she could care less that her pro-abortion views are well known. She reportedly discussed with pride her support for the pro-abortion former president, Bill Clinton, and the pro-abortion political action committee, Emily's List. According to Hayes, it is the bishops who have the problem.
“The United States bishops have a moral responsibility to cancel Hayes’ appointment immediately,” said Brown. “The bishops must decide sooner rather than later that it is time to clean house at the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops corporate headquarters in Washington, D.C.”
American Life League's Crusade for the Defense of the Catholic Church calls on the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops to immediately cease all affiliation with Hayes if she refuses to recant her pro-abortion stance. “The bottom line is, all Catholics must understand, adhere to, and teach, the firm and clear teachings of the Church: you can’t be both Catholic and pro-abortion!”
