HASTERT ON TIMES: “LOOSE LIPS KILL AMERICAN PEOPLE”

Discussing a resolution condemning the media for exposing details of the program, Hastert said “What we're talking about is people who are leaking classified information. It's not news. It's classified information our government is using to fight terrorists.” (ABC News) But Hewitt on the resolution: “It doesn't name the New York Times and the Los Angeles Times, so it isn't directed at them. It is a half-measure in a time when Americans in the military are asked to give their full measure. I don't think I could vote for it.” (HughHewitt) Meanwhile, the New York Times continues to spin the story, claiming “Experts on terror financing are divided in their views of the impact of the revelations. Some say the harm in last week's publications in The Times, The Los Angeles Times and The Wall Street Journal may have been less in tipping off terrorists than in putting publicity-shy bankers in an uncomfortable spotlight.” (NY Times)
