Pittsburgh TV anchor and reporter Don Cannon is headed to California and semi-retirement, according to the Post-Gazette. Cannon's contract at KDKA-TV (2) was not renewed.
KDKA (1020) has hired Matt DelSignore from WGY (810) Schenectady to serve as an evening news reporter-anchor. The station plans to restore local newscasts until 10 p.m. on weeknights.
Two local radio veterans -- Chris DeCarlo and Charlie Mitchell -- are launching a new business. DeCarlo-Mitchell Productions (www.decarlo-mitchellproductions.com) will offer voice-over and imaging services for all radio formats.
Chris Shovlin is back as the voice of the Pittsburgh Riverhounds soccer broadcasts on WPIT-AM (730) and MSA Sports with the team's return this season. Shovlin has been announcer for the team since 2000.
