Allegheny County Executive Dan Onorato and Kratsa Properties today unveiled the design plans for a Hilton Garden Inn to be built on the former site of the Allegheny County Jail Annex at Fourth Avenue and Ross Street in Downtown Pittsburgh. The six-story hotel will have 156 guest rooms and an underground garage on the nearly half-acre site. It will also include a restaurant and café with outdoor seating.
The board of the Allegheny County Industrial Development Authority approved the $1.55-million sale in December 2007. The hotel design will be submitted to the Contextual Design Advisory Panel for a recommendation, and then it will go before the City of Pittsburgh Planning Commission for approval.
Kratsa Properties hopes to break ground on the hotel in late 2008 or early 2009, and construction is expected to take a year.
