Is that a pastor or a media pig I see heading to Washington?
Rick Warren will give the invocation at President-Elect Barack Obama’s inauguration. Despite the fact that Obama is very much in favor of abortion on demand. Still,l the bigger issue is Mr. Warren is about to be used as Obama attempts to signal to religious conservatives that he’s willing to bring in both sides to the faith discussion in this country.
While I get the political strategy here, it all may backfire. The news of the invited guest is ticking off both sides of the isle. Those on the right are not happy that Warren is so cozy Obama. Obama praised the Megachurch leader in his second book "The Audacity of Hope." Warren, meanwhile, hosted a values forum between Obama and McCain during the general election. But on social issues like gay rights, stem cell research and women's rights, Warren and any true Christian would be very much opposed to the progressive agenda that Obama ran on.
On the other side if the fence, Joe Solomnese, the president of the Human Rights Campaign, said in a harsh letter to the president-elect, "Your invitation to Reverend Rick Warren to deliver the invocation at your inauguration is a genuine blow to LGBT Americans."
Well it looks like Obama is off to a great start!
