Rev. Andy Sidden is a great leader in the United Church of Christ. I'm forunate to have him as a colleague in the ministry.

Chuck:
Thanks for reading and posting on my blog. From one Christian to another I'm genuinely concerned how one would justify homosexuality in light of Scripture.

While I'm certain we would disagree on several issues, there are some things that I do think we can agree on. First of all, we are all sinners. Even great leaders in the ministry. Despite that we are to expected to flee from sin and repent when we fail. If Mr. Sidden is a valuable asset to the ministry, then it is our duty as brothers to call him to account. While you choose to judge a man on his leadership, it is my sincere belief that I God does not have the same standards.

With all due respect, the further one moves from original Christian beliefs, Sacred Scripture and tradition the more distorted things become. What may seem like a logical compromise, can develop into a perversion of truth.

I'm sure you are aware that Christ prayed for unity among believers. If those who profess to be believers can not agree on the basic question of sexual sin, then we collectively do damage to the church and have no business evangelizing. There is only one truth. One of us is leading people to hell. I can find no biblical evidence to convict my beliefs.

It's my prayer that the Holy Sprit leads all of us to the truth.

Respectfully,

It is my prayer that we eventually evolve from fear and small mindedness, and stop using christianity and God as an excuse for intolerance and exclusion.

I always believed christianity to be about compassion and forgiveness, and inclusion.

The Christian right in America has it's own mangled form of beliefs. They have nothing to do with teachings of love and understanding...

Anonymous says that the Christian Right has "mangled form of beliefs". We believe the Bible when it says it is sin for "man to lay with one another". We also believe that it is correct to hate the sin but love the sinner. Any Gay person is lovingly accepted by this "Christian Right" person as well as my "Christian Right" church. Gays are also a children of Jesus Christ who loves them as much as he loves me. BUT, Sin is SIN regardless of sexual leanings....

Let these sodomites and nigger shits fry forever and a day.

Love and understanding? What has homosexuality got to do with love? it's about sex. The sexual activity between two people of the same sex.

Look folks. It's an election year. What we need to find out is whether Obama has been invovled in homosexuality or not. We do not want a homosexual in the White House. We had a whore and you all know who it was. And then we had an idiot. Ok, now let us not have a queer in the White House. If we want to clean America up, put a strong clean person in there. Not a whore, not an idiot, not a queer.

I saw a limo driver mentioned Obama and he had several encounters back a few years ago. The limo driver could not pass the lie detector test. That fact may discredit the facts, or does it? I wonder. Someone who has driven a limo for a long time would not be expected to pass any test I suppose. Is his story real? I wonder. Also I hear Obama's wife had essays written when she was in Princeton wherein she objectively denounced white population and race. If this is so, what kind of a couple are we putting in the White House?

You know the saddest thing is that it states in the BIBLE that Homosexuality is a sin, Yet we are have (Pastor) Preaching the word, THE BIBLE to people. This world is slowly falling apart, because we don’t have enough Christians standing up for what is right, and for what GOD says is ok and what is not...Instead we go off the law. WHEN Will WE all figure out that, this HOMOSEXUALTIY, is not all right? YOU ALL SHOULD BE ASKING YOURSELF’S, is HELL WORTH SINNING?
