Bonus Inquiry Extends To GOP

From the story: A state investigation into bonuses given to legislative staffers has extended into the House Republican caucus.

Attorney General Tom Corbett issued five subpoenas for personnel documents Monday night, caucus spokesman Stephen Miskin said yesterday. Mr. Corbett has said he is investigating all four legislative caucuses to determine whether $3.4 million in employee bonuses were given as veiled compensation for campaign work, which would be illegal.

Until now, the investigation appeared to be focused on House Democrats, who gave the bulk of the bonuses, up to $1.9 million in amounts that ranged from $65 to more than $28,000. Read more…

Should Corbett follow though and thoroughly investigate all 4 caucuses, he could have the support to be elected governor in 2010.
