If Congress passes an energy bill, Americans may see more daylight-saving time.
(No, I'm not kidding)
Lawmakers crafting energy legislation approved an amendment Wednesday to extend daylight-saving time by two months, having it start on the last Sunday in March and end on the last Sunday in November. The amendment was approved by the House Energy and Commerce Committee that is putting together major parts of energy legislation likely to come up for a vote in the full House in the coming weeks.
The theroy here is the more daylight we have, the less electricity we use and the less oil we need. I'm sure someone, somewhere is working on taxing sunlight!

Greetings In The Lord,
It's sounds wierd, but it's true. The theory of Standard time is that noon is supposed to be the middle of the day, aka "High Noon".
Think about it, would you rather the sun rise @ 6am, and set @ 6pm?
Or would you rather the sun ruse @ 7am, and set @ 7pm, with 1pm being the middle of the day?
Now let's take this to teh middle of summer when the sun doesn't set until 9pm DST. Would you rather the sun rise @ 4am, and set @ 8pm. Or would you rather the sun rise @ 5am, and set @ 9pm?
With a nation that typically doesn't wake up until 6am, who cares when the sun rises before then. Also, with a nation that typically doesn't go to bed until 10pm or later, everyone would rather it still be light out @ 9pm.
