The parents of a 13-year-old girl are suing Wal-Mart for selling CDs by the rock group Evanescence that apparently contain the F-word. Wal-Mart says it had no way of knowing the dirty word was on the CD "Anywhere But Home" because the maker didn't put a parental warning label on it. But the suit by Trevin Skeens says Wal-Mart knew about the lyrics in the song "Thoughtless," because it censored the word in a free sample on its Web site. The suit asks damages of about $75,000 for each of the thousands of people who bought the CD at Wal-Marts in Maryland. The suit also names Wind-Up Records and distributor BMG Entertainment. Wal-Mart says it has no immediate plans to pull the CDs.
Here is a thought, why don't the parents listen to the CD before the kid does! Somehow I doubt this was the first time the 13 year old heard this group. She probably intended to listen to it as the title states "Anywhere but Home". I'm not in favor of selling this trash to kids but if you don't like what your kid is listening to snap the CD in half. Sure she will scream about it but who is the adult? Instead we skip off to the lawyer and hang a $75,000 price tag on the F-word. Great lesson for the kid. I think they may have found the perfect song ... "Thoughtless".
