Question of The Week

This week's question comes from Cindy in Penn Hills, PA

Is there salvation outside the Catholic Church?

The quick answer is yes. If you are happy stop reading. If intriqued, read on...
All salvation comes from Christ through the Church. The Church, is necessary for salvation. Christ is present to us in his body which is the Church. He himself explicitly asserted the necessity of faith and Baptism, and thereby affirmed at the same time the necessity of the Church which men enter through Baptism. So one could not be saved who, knowing that the Catholic Church was founded as necessary by God through Christ, would refuse either to enter it or to remain in it. (All of you who left the Catholic Church might want to read that last line again) This does not include someone who, through no fault of their own, does not know Christ and his Church. Those that do not trulry know the Catholic Church but who nevertheless seek God with a sincere heart, may achieve eternal salvation. However, those who outright reject the Catholic Church and it's teachings can not.
