Swann Tackles a New Field

Former Steelers wide receiver and Pro Football Hall of Fame inductee Lynn Swann is considering running for governor of Pennsylvania as a Republican in 2006. Swann who was on "The Marty Minto Show" in support of President Bush during the election, has been discussing the issue with his family, friends and political leaders. Swann spoke at the Republican National Convention on Sept. 2, and he was also co-chairman of the African-American steering committee for the Bush-Cheney campaign this year. Could Bradshaw be Lt. Governor? Stay tuned...

That would be quite interesting. Improbable, at best, considering PA's political slant, but...

It may also hinder his chances that he has not held other elected offices. Or has he? I really don't know for sure.

No Swann hasn't run for political office. But he has been active in GOP ranks lately. He introduced President Bush at many of his appearances in Western Pennsylvania during the recent presidential campaign. He could be running against U.S. Rep. Melissa Hart of the North Hills and former U.S. Rep. Pat Toomey of Allentown. We shall see.
