I was sent an article by a PowerBlog reader. (Thanks Vincent) The article outlines the American death toll. Not in Iraq but right here in the U.S. The interesting thing is it looks at murders committed by illegal aliens.
I don't have much confidence in the numbers cited. It's hard to track something that isn't really trackable. The claim is 12 Americans are killed daily by illegal aliens. Yet there are no federal stats. The numbers come from prisons and research.
If the numbers are true, more Americans are attacked and killed here then any other place in the world. That's a big "IF". I don't personally believe most people come here to kill and terrorize. Yet at the same time, when a person comes to this county under the cover of darkness, is banished to the shadows to exist by working for substandard wages and lives in hiding, desperation can drive people to violence and crime.
Other numbers in the article cite 20% of accidents involve a driver that does not have a license. Well duh! There is probably a good reason they don't have a license.
36% of illegals in prison have been arrested at least 5 times before. That astounds me. We arrest and re-arrest these people without deporting them.
I welcome all people who come here legally. People who are willing to work hard and pursue the American dream are needed in this country. However, if you come here illegally, you enter this country as a criminal. I don't care how nobel your intentions. Criminals commit crimes. So it should come as no surprise that a person who breaks one law could progress to breaking other laws or for some even murder.
