GAY “DAY OF SILENCE” SET FOR APRIL 18
Cards handed out in school will claim they are “protesting the silence faced by lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people and their allies in schools. My deliberate silence echoes that silence, which is caused by harassment, prejudice, and discrimination.” (Day of Silence) The AFA is encouraging parents whose schools are participating “to keep their children home from public schools on April 18” and write letters to their school administrator. (One News Now) The National Education Association insists youngsters are quite naturally “homophobic” and thus the NEA is “committed to reversing these trends and addressing the needs of gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgendered students.” (NEA)
