A Slient Voice
The longtime voice of KDKA-TV has died at age 80. George Eisenhauer, whose resonant baritone was heard over the airwaves of Pittsburgh's first TV station for more than 30 years, died in Maine of complications related to colon cancer. Eisenhauer was part of that vanishing breed of artists known as the "booth announcer," voicing all station breaks and many commercials, as well as hosting a Sunday public-affairs show. Survivors include his wife, five daughters and a son, according to the Post-Gazette.
