Pa. Senators On Opposite Sides Of Stem Cell Bill

From the story: U.S. Sen. Arlen Specter today called for the federal government to vastly expand funding for embryonic stem cell research, while Sen. Bob Casey has said he won't support a bill coming up before the Senate for a vote this week. Read more..

In the 2004 U.S. Senate campaign, Senator Specter received support and endorsements from “Pro-Life” office holders including President Bush and Senator Santorum. We in the Pro-Life community were told that “Specter is with us when it counts.”

In 2006, U.S. Senate candidate Casey received support from “Pro-Choice” office holders including Governor Rendell and former Vice President Gore. I understand that Pro-Choice groups were told to “Hold your nose and vote for Casey.”

Is anyone surprised that strategies like these ultimately lead to the results noted above?
