NEWSWEEK POLL: 91% OF AMERICANS BELIEVE IN GOD

So much for theories of secularization as Newsweek finds nine in 10 of American adults say they believe in God while 87% say they identify with a specific religion (Newsweek). But there’s more: 82% of American adults identify as Christians, 48% reject the scientific theory of evolution and just 3% identify as atheist. The Newsweek poll also considered politics and found dismal numbers for Al Gore. A majority of American adults (56%) don’t want to see him run again for president. Meanwhile in religious happenings across the pond the New York Times reports: “Old Church Becomes Mosque in Uneasy Britain.”
