Yesterday I spoke out against the false teacher heretic Joel Osteen. We revisted Mr. Osteen on the show today. I still think he is a heretic. No one has the right to edit the Gospel so it does not make people uncomfortable. That's removing the cross.
Michael Spencer (Internet Monk) joined us. He was a bit kinder then I was but agreed the same. Check out his post here.

I was listening to your talk show on my way home. It sounded like lets bash Joel Osteen. The thing that I think people are forgetting about is why are so many people attracted to him. I think it is because he displays characteristics they think are Christ like. His kindness, sincerity, humbleness, and his messages help people to find peace in there lives. His stories about his own struggles make him real. He gives them hope. He is honest and real. He cares about his audience. He helps them battle this world, which has gone mad with greed. The ordinary person needs to be encouraged during a time when our country is being criticized all over the world, taxes are always going up, we are unsure of our national safety, there are shootings in the streets and cultures developing that most of us will never be able to accept. How could one man have so many listeners and parishoners ? I think that even though he isn't biblical enough to suit some people he is full of the Holy Spirit. He has allowed God into his life with a depth that many Christians may never achieve. That is the attraction.

RE: Joel Osteen
I love your show and listen to it every afternoon on my way home from work. I do have a comment about Joel Osteen. I became a believer at age 36, after 11 years of marriage. My husband was not a believer, and was very much turned off by "religion" and religious programming. But, he started to watch Joel's program with me and still does after these many years. Growing up, my husband (and his family) had no type of religious training, and I think for someone in that situation, Joel does an excellent job in giving some good basic information. Also, at the end of each program, he encourages everyone to accept Jesus as their Lord and Savior, and to find a good Bible-based church. As a new believer, I gained so much knowledge from the teachings of Charles Stanley (and I still do). Joel was not yet pastoring, since his father was alive at that time. But I think, as a new believer, I would have gained some knowledge and encouragement from Joel's messages, also. Just wanted to send my comments along.
I was surprised with the interview with Michael Spencer, concerning Joel Osteen. He did not have his facts straight and was very judgmental. Maybe he should have done more research. Why would you attack a fellow man of God? Joel gives an invitation to Christ at the end of every service, how many millions of people have a new life in Christ and have eternal life because of him?
I know personally I have learned a lot from listening to him and reading his books. As far as him not being deep, I think it takes tremendous amounts of faith to believe that God is for me, he wants to bless me. It goes against our nature to think we deserve good. The enemy of our soul wants us to live defeated life's.
I listen to your show every afternoon on my drive home, and I usually enjoy every minute of it. I hope you will think more about what an impact your guest have on people.
Osteen is popular I'll give you that, but that does not make him right. The man preaches a false gospel. Those who prefer to have your ears tickled keep on watching, listening and buying his books.
