Delegates of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) are to tackle whether to adopt gender-inclusive language for worship of the divine Trinity along with the traditional "Father, Son and Holy Spirit."
One reason is that language limited to the Father and Son "has been used to support the idea that God is male and that men are superior to women," the panel said.
Two professors at the Presbyterians' Pittsburgh Theological Seminary, Andrew Purves and Charles Partee, said there is potential danger that "we not only lose the ground for our language for God, we in fact lose the Trinity. We lose God."
"We do not need a diluted, metaphorical Trinity; rather, we need our confidence in the Christian doctrine of God to be restored," they said.

By a vote of 56% to 42% with 2% abstaining, the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church USA has officially adopted " "Mother, Child and Womb"" as examples of names that can be substituted for Father, Son, and Holy Spirit!!!!!
This happened minutes ago.
If people would only read the Scriptures prayerfully they would find out that while god has prtrayed Himself as 'male' He also gave adequate witness to His expression as a female.
Kepp in mind the very first chapters fo Genesis. Man (mankind) was created in the image and likeness of God. God created man (male) and breathed into him the breath of life. From living man He created living woman. Both, since one came form the other and the 'source' being came from God, then are created in the image and likeness of God.
There is no sense in Scripture that women are inferior to men. Roles being different, value and worth not so.
Christ Himself CHOSE to reveal Himself more fully to women - and they were the first to see Him resurrected. They played a integral part in the plan of salvation - much more than men.
General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church USA needs a basic Sunday School lesson...
