Coming Clean: "I GOT BURNED"

One thing I have always prided myself on doing is checking the facts before I put anything on the air, or on this site. There are so many stories that I would love to pass along right away, but I often have to hold back and verify everything before I do. Well.......

Yesterday I posted a story about Laura Bush and the lack of humor at the Traditional Values Coalition. I checked multiple sources, had a release in hand and THOUGHT I has everything ready to roll. We even talked about this on the air. I was wrong. It was a hoax and I fell hook, line and sinker!

The hoax press release distributed under the name of the Traditional Values Coalition is the most recent tactic in an ongoing campaign of harassment of the conservative church group over the past year, according to the Coalition’s Washington office.

“Our computers have seen more viruses than a pediatrician’s office,” said TVC Chairman Rev. Louis P. Sheldon. “Today’s phony press release is just the latest dirty trick aimed at discrediting our efforts on behalf of America’s churches.”

THEY DO HAVE A SENSE OF HUMOR!!!!!
“We thought Mrs. Bush’s remarks at the correspondents’ dinner were hilarious. We are very pleased that she is America’s First Lady.”Rev. Sheldon called this the latest attack on the church group’s operation in Washington.

“If you want to talk about desperate, you should look at all the time and energy being spent to disrupt our Washington office,” said Rev. Sheldon. “Each week strange things are mailed to us, all sort of mischief is played on our computer system and our staff has to deal with a host of distractions.”“Our feeling has been to shrug it off because it comes with the territory.”

My apologies go out to Rev. Sheldon, his staff and all of you. They do some incredible work at the Traditional Values Coalition and if you are able, won't you support them. You may do so by going here.
