Prayer Vigil Marks 33 Years of Roe v. Wade

STEUBENVILLE, OHIO—On the eve of the thirty-third anniversary of Roe v. Wade, an evening prayer vigil for victims of abortion will mark the start of two days of pro-life activities by Franciscan University of Steubenville students. The vigil will take place this Sunday evening, January 22, at 6:30 p.m., in Christ the King Chapel. In addition to prayers and singing, pro-life activist Liz Brown will speak about the trauma she experienced after having an abortion and about her involvement in building a culture of life. The service will conclude with a candlelight procession to the nearby Tomb of the Unborn Child, which contains the remains of seven aborted infants, who were given to the University for proper burial by pro-life workers. Students from various households on campus will place 33 roses on the grave, one for each year since Roe v. Wade. The public is invited to attend the service.Around midnight, nearly 500 students will board buses for the annual March for Life in Washington, DC. The next morning, they will attend Mass at the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception, then join thousands of participants for the annual March for Life.
