In a Wall Street Journal - John Zogby poll Lynn Swann is in a dead heat (43.6%) with Ed Rendell (43.9%) for the governorship, while the other Republican candidate trails the governor by 8 points.
Since he announced on January 4th Lynn has taken off. It all started with an announcement tour where huge crowds in Pittsburgh, Philadelphia and Lancaster met Lynn. Adding to the excitement was huge interest the media showed in Lynn Swann, totaling over 800 stories in just the first three days of his candidacy.
The Swann momentum continued when he was endorsed by the Republican Central Caucus by an overwhelming 77 to 32 vote. Adding to that impressive tally, Swann landed another victory this past weekend winning the Northwestern Caucus by a vote of 22 to 7.
The polls, the news stories, and the Caucus endorsements prove that Lynn Swann is a contender to beat Ed Rendell and demonstrate that Lynn is marching toward the Republican State Central Committee endorsement.
