If this keeps up I'll need an entire blog to chronicle the demise of KDKA radio.
The latest: KDKA Radio is parting ways with John McIntire, the ultra liberal and on off the air "potty mouth" that used to host a talk show.
McIntire said he'll host The Flip Side -- an evening program -- for the last time Dec. 29. He joined the radio station after parting ways with PCNC's NightTalk show in 2003.
Starting Jan. 2, news/talk KDKA-AM (1020) will add an hour to its "Five O'Clock Total News Hour," which now will run weekdays from 5 to 7 p.m. The station also will pick up the syndicated Neal Boortz talk show, which will run evenings from 7 to 10 p.m. Yawn.....
The changes displace the one-hour 6 p.m. sports talk show with KDKA sports director Jeff Hatthorn and Post-Gazette columnist Gene Collier, and John McIntire's weeknight talk show.
So where do you go when your are tossed from a sinking ship? Maybe another sinking ship... One possible candidate for McIntire's show is KDKA sister station WRKZ-FM. Former WDVE-FM host Scott Paulsen will be hosting a talk show there starting in April, when the non-compete clause in his contract expires. This goes from bad to worse! 2007 should be very interesting.

If John did not enhance the station he should never of been hired.
As for diminishing, they are down from 1st place to third. What's that called?
Scott Paulsen is a former WDVE host?! Yikes! When/why did that happen? I've abandoned radio for an iPod, but back when I regularly listened to radio, I always looked forward to Paulsen's segments.
