(Tribune Review) Governor Rendell’s budget for the fiscal year beginning July 1 would increase state spending by 3.6 percent, to $27.3 billion. That's nearly $2,200 for every man, woman and child living in Pennsylvania. Senate Republicans said spending actually would increase by 5.25 percent, counting supplemental spending Rendell didn't include. The governor said he is sensitive to the political risks of increasing taxes, but, "I believe we have no choice."
Actually, there are choices! Aside from moving to another state, we could limit state government’s growth to the inflation rate / population growth. Read more..
