Ex-Rep. LaGrotta Charged with Felonies

Prosecutors on Wednesday accused former Democratic lawmaker Frank LaGrotta of placing two relatives on the state payroll as "ghost employees," the first criminal charges to result from a grand jury investigating legislative corruption.

Democratic Gov. Ed Rendell addressed the House Democratic Caucus behind a closed door after Corbett's announcement.

"I think his message to the caucus was that you need to demonstrate to the public you are a productive body" by approving bills on health care and alternative energy, said Rep. Greg Vitali of Delaware County. "He did not say 'grand jury' or 'Tom Corbett,' but I think everyone understood." Read more...

Evidently, the Democrat House leaders are not listening to the governor. These same leaders cancelled committee meetings scheduled for Wednesday. In addition, there are rumors that the Democrat majority leaders in the PA House are looking to cancel several weeks of scheduled sessions in November and December.

If the house leaders alter the legislative schedule in terms of weeks as rumored, it would appear that the wagons are being circled in anticipation of larger bombshells. Given the fact that LaGrotta is supposedly cooperating with the Attorney General’s Office on this investigation, and was STILL charged with two felonies, the anticipation of larger bombshells is justified.
