I spent Saturday morning with some wonderfully dedicated men who are part of the Men's Catholic Fellowship of Pittsburgh. We gathered at St. Paul Seminary in Crafton along with Fr. Jim Wehner to celebrate a holy hour and announce some things that I and a few other men have quietly been working on.
It's being called "Men's Battle" and it's a counter-offensive against a society that is saturated with pornography, infidelity and a lack of understanding of God's plan for our sexuality.
It's a topic that makes some people cringe but I personally believe this is the most pervasive attack that is silently destroying men in the church everyday. What starts as seemingly innocent fun can lead to broken relationships, sexual abuse and pulls us further from God.
This problem is not exclusive to Catholics by any means, but there has a lack of response to a problem that grows everyday. I personally was encouraged to meet 15 dynamic seminary students who are willing to dedicate their enter life to serving the Church. They are strong enough to forgo marriage to accept celibacy as a gift from God. They should be a source of strength and encouragement for us and the future of the Church.
I invite all men to check out the "Men's Battle" section of the CMF website. Over the next few moths will be adding more content, webcasts as well as developing a blog as a forum for men. It's the beginning of an important mission that will continue to develop. I'm honored to play some small role in this ministry as my life as been deeply impacted. I encourage all men to join us in this effort.
