Radio Waves : Hoerth Exits

UPDATE: It was Laura Ingram who filled the slot for Doug. Not Mike Gallagher as incorrectly reported by news outlets. PowerBlog had it right!

Original Post:

Veteran Pittsburgh talker Doug Hoerth has exited Renda's Talkradio 10 WPTT-A as the station elected not to renew his contract, reports the PITTSBURGH POST-GAZETTE

Hoerth's name was already gone from the programming schedule on the WPTT website as well that of sister station WJAS-AM (1320), where he had been host of a weekly Sunday night oldies show. That show will cease as well.

Hoerth, has been on the air in Pittsburgh since 1980. His voice was on the airwaves of WWSW-AM, KQV-AM, KDKA-AM, and WTAE-AM before moving to WPTT in 1999. I worked with Doug for a few years at WPTT & WJAS. I was there when he began his oldies show. We always had a blast playing music in the studio as loud as it would go.

Reports say he will be replaced by SALEM RADIO NETWORK's Mike Gallagher 3-6p starting Monday. Those reports are FALSE. Salem's 730 WPIT AM already airs Gallagher's show and has a market exclusive contract. He is on WPIT weekdays 4-6p and reairs at midnight.

So the question is, what will be on the air Monday at 3pm on WPTT. My sources say it won'e be Gallagher.

There is battle brewing over this one and in the end I don't think Mike will be on two stations in the same market. Stay tuned.
