U.S. Vice President Dick Cheney and wife Lynne Cheney held their sixth grandchild, Samuel David Cheney, born Wednesday in Washington. His parents are the Cheneys' daughter Mary, and her partner, Heather Poe.
There should be no sadness when a healthy baby boy is born to two loving parents, but this case is different.
Homosexual parenting involves intentionally denying a child either a mom or a dad. In this case, young Samuel David -- who, as a Cheney, will surely enjoy privileges and comforts greater than most children will be missing a father.
I know this is unpopular to say but the media has an odd way of reporting stories like this. Mary Cheney and Heather Poe were not both involved in the baby's conception here. Therefore they are not both his parents. But to say that brings calls of intolerance and hatred and brings unwanted attention to the unnaturalness of "gay parenting." We can fool ourselves all we want, still God will not be mocked or persuaded into acceptance. That is precisely the two homosexuals cannot create a baby.
USA Today reports that Vice President Dick Cheney has "bristled at questions on the topic." It's his daughter and grandchild so I can certainly understand the concern. But one can not deny this goes against nature, common sense, and God's design of the family no matter how many people you love are involved.
I don't doubt for a moment this baby will be loved and cared for. I hope he is not used in any political agenda on either side and maybe someday Mary Cheney and Heather Poe will embrace God's true plan for their lives.
