Have you ever stirred up a hornets nest? I did this week.
We kicked off Monday by having an atheist on the show. "How could you give air time to a non-believer?" some screamed. If a Christian won't talk to an atheist how are we to carry out the great commission?
Now there is some flack because Jesse Romero came on to prove there is such a thing as an Evangelical Catholic. Of course some don't want to hear it. In a rather harsh email I was told we have no idea "what it means to be a child of God..and that is taking a stand for Truth...speaking up against false teaching/false theology."
I'll take all comments, good and bad but it drives me nuts when people are so narrow minded that they just can't say "I disagree." The labels have to come out and the accusations fly.
I want to explain something very clearly. What I do on in regards to the show and what I do on this blog is not about pushing any agenda. I believe what I believe and I'm happy to explain, promote and defend it. You are free to come to your own conclusion. But quite frankly, I'm sick of this Christian utopia we create our mind. So many want to just stand facing inward in a circle. If you are looking across at a person who goes to the same church and believes what you believe everything is ok. We can talk about what a mess the world is but never leave the safety of our circle.
I'm looking over my shoulder. There is some bad stuff and I suggest we confront it. I challenge you to climb out of your box. Do something that requires you to leave your comfort zone. God put you in this place for a reason and it's not to hide.
We've expanded our horizons and God willing we will continue to do so. Some people will refuse to make the journey and that saddens me, but there is not much I can do about it. You are invited to come along and I pray that you will.

Why would someone question a Catholic Evangalist? Do Non-Catholic Christians think that they are the only ones capable of evangalizing? Comments like that make me angry, its the same old cleches over and over.
I think it goes beyond people not wanting to look over their shoulder. E-mails like that go into the realm of narcisism. Not only do THEY not want, but it drives them nuts when anyone ELSE steps off the reservation also.
Just remember, Powerball, the pharasees were angry at Jesus for eating with sinners.
Taking a stand for Truth and standing up against false theologies is fine and dandy, but if you don't do it in a dialogue, how are you going to back up what you have to say? How are you going to answer their objections? How will it differentiate you from other groups of fanatic religious screamers out there who want nothing more to shout down all who disagree with them?
