Nicolas Sarkozy won by six percent. He was a big critic of the riots. (CNN) And his election led to a riot. According to this story, voter turnout was an astounding 84 percent. (FOX News)

Notice how we rarely see conservatives riot in major industrialized capitalist countries when liberals win.
