There are two camps squawking about Pittsburgh right now. One is cheering the Steelers, the other is slamming the city and the people cheering the Steelers. There is too much attention paid to the game of football and we have bigger problems to deal with here one side cries.
Granted, we are lacking in our elected leadership department. Yes, we have over spent to the point of bankruptcy and we sure could use some tax cuts and jobs. Yet I must say, back off!
Don't discount something glorious because it's not at the top of your priority list. That's just selfish. I doubt city finances were of much concern to Jerome Bettis. Nor should they be.
We have a great city here. All the elements are in place, we just need some strong leadership. We need elected officials who are going to serve the public. We need leadership who expects us to succeed. Maybe Cowher for Mayor. I'm kidding, but we do need the same kind of coaching attitude.
We are all on a team here in the Keystone state. We should expect everyone to pull their weight. When they do, we win. When they don't, well taxes go up, jobs are lost and we whine and complain an awful lot.
I'm really tired of the complaints. We know what they are, now let's fix things. Work hard at your job. Have pride in your neighborhood. Help a neighbor. I love the pride the majority of us share right now. The Steeler victory could be the start of something much greater. In order for us to truly be the "city of champions" we all must play and expect to win.
