Church of England bishops are calling for Christian leaders to apologize publicly, at a gathering attended by senior Muslims, for the war in Iraq.
Acknowledging that the British government is unlikely to apologize for the "gravely mistaken" war, the bishops suggest that churches should do so by making a "public act of institutional repentance."They are not calling for a troop withdrawal now, however, saying the troops should remain until there is a secure Iraqi regime in place.

As soon as they apologize to us for 9/11, plus all the countless other acts of terrorism, their treatment of westerners and western ideas, and the oppression of their own people... well, no, I still wouldn't apologize for the Iraq war.
Why apologize when every major Protestant denomination (except for the Southern Baptists) and the Vatican denounced the war? Should Christians take responsibility for the Rape of Nanking by the Japanese in WWII or other things we didn't do as well?
