Tanker Truck FOUND

The tanker truck we previously reported as missing with highly flammable Jet-A fuel has now been found. However the 2,000 gallons of fuel is missing.

Police arrested Ricky Morehead of Central City, Kentucky and charged him with stealing the truck from the Muhlenberg County airport. An arrest warrant is still out for a second suspect, Heath Sissom, who is believed to still be in the Muhlenberg County area. Officials have not commented on the missing fuel.

ORIGINAL POST:

It was noticed at 6:30 a.m. last Friday – a 1969 Ford F-800 white tanker truck, 18 feet long with Shell Aviation stickers but with no license plates was missing, and apparently driven through a fence surrounding the Muhlenberg County Airport in Greenville, Kentucky. The truck contained between 1,400 and 2,000 gallons of highly flammable Jet-A fuel.

The theft of tankers is nothing new, and officials fear that such trucks can be used as truck bombs, a possibility that has been discussed by officials from the department of Homeland Security for the past several months. There have been other tanker trucks stolen over the last several months.

An FBI agent said they do not have any suspects, but the FBI, ATF and the department of Homeland Security are involved in the investigation. Local law enforcement officials, along with truckers who are part of the National Highway Watch program have been alerted to the theft and told to be on the lookout for the truck.
