In Defense of a Nation

If you tuned in last week, you heard the show live from Washington, DC. Friday's program was broadcast from the Pentagon where four years ago a plane slammed into that very site killing 184 people not far where I stood.

I wish all of you had the opportunity to meet the men and women who work there. It was an honor to have chance to look in their eyes and say "thank you". These are the very people who enemies must go through if they wish to do harm to Americans. These are also the folks who would give up their life in moment to prevent such a thing from happening.

We all take peace and freedom for granted. Most of us don't have to make life and death decisions on a daily basis, yet these people do. Every normal day that passes is a great victory for the unsung hero. Peace in most cases is the result of conflict and not the avoidance of it.

I know not all of you agree with the course our country has taken. Be thankful we are allowed to disagree. But if I could convey just one thing that I learned standing in the midst of America's protectors it would be this...

All hero's are people. Real people who laugh and cry like the rest of us. They do not have cold hearts of steal. They do not crave battle or even victory. They have families and loved ones and that is why the do what they do. So that we may see the sun rise another day. Let us not confuse true evil with political difference.
