Rabbi Shmuley Boteach’s radio talk show was yanked from a Utah radio station because he urged black Katrina evacuees to relocate to Utah.
During his September 9 broadcast, the politically conservative rabbi announced an upcoming event in Salt Lake City at which listeners could help displaced Katrina victims settle in Utah, the state with the smallest percentage of blacks, reports the New York Post’s Page 6 column.
The rabbi’s popular show was pulled off the air by station KUTR 820 just hours after he urged listeners to welcome refugees staying at Camp Williams, a National Guard base near Salt Lake City.
"This is bigotry pure and simple,” Boteach told Page 6. "The station simply didn’t want me telling black people to move to Utah.”
